Erick A. Mikao

Erick is a Researcher, Policy Analyst and Philosopher. He has a master degree of Research and Public Policy from Mzumbe University and a Bachelor degree of Arts in Philosophy from The Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA). Currently is working as an Independent Research and Project Consultant. Basically, the consultation involves the provision of academic advice to university students pursuing their research activities, working as data analyst and editor of reports.  The consultation extends to the design of project proposals, research tools and assistance in research data collection activities.  He worked as Research Associate with Global Community and The Khana Group in the Impact Assessment for AIMS programme dealt with Agribusiness Investment and Stimulation in five regions of Tanzania.
 

Mikao has experience on technical efficiency of smallholder sugar cane farmers and exploration of parents’ involvement in children learning process in Bukoba, using  a mixed method approach. Other areas of expertise include the assessment of role of culture in project sustainability, evaluation of the water resources sustainability, evaluation of the implementation of the Tanzania green growth policies in secondary schools and other fields of education policies and pedagogy of teaching, political sciences, health monitoring and economics of development.

Together with other qualifications, the consultant has extensive experience of working in other areas dealing with policy analysis and social work education and psychological counseling as well as mediation for peace and social justice for peasants and working with vulnerable groups of people such as children in street situation and HIV patients. He has also ushered a sense of sensitivity, emotional accompaniment and guidance in life skills and distress management.  Strong ability in teaching and leadership and has so far been part of the credible source of influencing behaviour and creative thinking in face of challenges and opportunities. In addition, as a philosopher he  is competent in understanding social behaviour of people, ethical issues to be adhered at work and for the best interest of the organisation. He is also competent in different languages such as English, French and Kiswahili.
