Mafuru is an Environmental Health and Sustainable Development Expert. Mafuru S. Juma has MSc. In Integrated Sanitation Management and BA. in Geography and Environmental Studies of University of Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania. He worked as Assistant lecturer in a reputable higher learning institution in Tanzania. As Assistant lecturer, he teaches Environmental health and Sanitation, Environmental Pollution control management and Urban Housing and environmental sanitation.

Mafuru is a creative and enthusiastic person with a diverse range of research experience in  School WASH in Public schools, Water, sanitation and Hygiene in health care facilities, Environmental sanitation of street food vendors, urban and rural sanitation planning. Mafuru has been extensively involved in consultancy and field assignments related to WASH in both primary and secondary schools, Health care facilities and both rural and urban sanitation As a trainer, researcher and consultant, Mafuru has worked with Ministries Departments and Agencies of Governments (MDAS) and Local Government Authorities (LGAs) in Tanzania. Mafuru has worked with various research programmes, both national and international organizations including UN-HABITAT, SNV-Tanzania, GIZ Tanzania and Compassion International Tanzania (CIT).
